Technological Developments & Their Impact on Creative Processes

AI is celebrated as a revolution – but its training is often based on mass-used, unlicensed works, while illustrators struggle for fair remuneration. The impulse sheds light on how questionable training is turning into seemingly "legal" results, who is liable in the event of rights violations by AI images and why non-transparent platform licence models are increasingly bundling control over Europe's visual culture. The focus is on the pressure to transform to "fast and cheap": It threatens business foundations and devalues illustration as a protected intellectual achievement. A plea for clear rules, fair markets and genuine appreciation of creative work.

The impulse is part of "AI, Copyright, Business: Who Owns Creativity in the New AI Age?".
