Katharina Mandlinger is responsible for press and public relations at the VGSD: The association gives (solo) self-employed people and small businesses a strong voice – and works hard to ensure that their concerns are heard politically, taken seriously and implemented effectively.

Before joining the VGSD, Katharina Mandlinger worked as a freelance B2B editor and content strategist in Hamburg for 13 years. The trained journalist completed her traineeship at a daily newspaper and then worked for several years on the agency side in editorial, PR and project management. She stands for clear communication with strategic vision and a journalistic compass of values.

Political Advocacy for the Self-employed: Facts Instead of Prejudices

Self-employed people? They either live precariously and make art for a living – or they drive to the bakery in a Porsche: A wide variety of ideas and conceptions of self-employment are circulating in politics and the public sphere. They often have little to do with reality.

The VGSD association stands up for the (solo) self-employed, start-ups and micro-enterprises in all sectors. A decisive factor for the political representation of interests: Reliable data that shows a realistic picture of self-employment. After all, political decisions should not be based on prejudices, but on facts. In her session, Katharina Mandlinger will provide insights into the work of the association – and show what the data says about the current situation in the creative industries.

After her presentation, Katharina Mandlinger will be available for questions and discussions at the Meeting Point in the West Foyer.
