AI & Ethics: Responsibility in the Digital Transformation

Artificial intelligence poses fundamental questions for the creative industries: How can innovation succeed in strengthening culture, society and the economy – without undermining values and rights? Four perspectives come together in this panel: Florian Scheible shows how data quality, AI architectures and the EU AI Act translate responsibility into planning and processes. Eric Bartoletti sheds light on AI licensing, TDM opt-out and new publishing models. Dorothea Winter philosophically categorises what AI does to decisions, responsibility and the way we work together. Maike Scholz talks about Deutsche Telekom's "Digital Ethics" code, published in 2018, and its impact on the company's business model and culture.

Truth in the Feed: Journalism Between Platform Logic, AI & Education

Gen Z and Gen Alpha no longer find news first on homepages, but in their feeds. This is changing reach, formats - and the responsibility of journalism.

In this panel with NDR, we will discuss what journalistic work means in the platform age when it is not just about conveying content, but also about orientation: How can young target groups be reached without following the logic of outrage and clicks? What role does AI play in production, distribution and disinformation? And how can journalism actively strengthen media literacy - with formats, transparency and tools that make fact-checking, context and trust visible again? The aim is to take a practical look at new strategies for credibility in everyday digital life.

After the panel Gregor Schmazried will be available for questions and discussions at the Meeting Point in the West Foyer at 15:00.

In cooperation with Norddeutscher Rundfunk.

Unsovereign! Europe's Approach to Art, Culture & Creativity

Europe is negotiating the far-reaching automation of thought, expression and the assumption of responsibility. This is unstoppable, they say. The gap between technological progress, social penetration and democratic control is widening. If we want to prevent it from becoming unmanageable, we need to shape developments. As has so often been the case, the way we deal with art, culture and creativity will be a seismograph for subsequent social disruption. Anyone who wants sovereignty must defend freedom – starting with the freedom of the mind, art and the press.

Business Value Meets Impact: Four AI Impulses & Joint Q&A

AI for a better world? In four compact 15-minute impulses, players from the cultural and creative industries will show how this can be achieved in concrete terms – scalable, implementation-orientated and with measurable added value. The focus is on inclusive design solutions, an AI chatbot to modernise support for those affected and gender equality in design. The contributions combine social benefit with business value and visualise who AI actually works for – and who is otherwise quickly overlooked.

This will be followed by a joint Q&A with all participants.

Creativity as the Infrastructure of the Future

Germany and Europe are faced with the task of orienting their economic policy towards the future. In addition to traditional infrastructure and security investments, strengthening social cohesion is becoming more important than ever. The cultural and creative industries should play a more central role than ever before: This is because they can combine technological innovation with the creation of meaning and develop solutions for shaping the future. In a time of global upheaval – characterized by digital platforms and authoritarian state systems – creativity is becoming a strategic raw material for Europe. It not only creates economic value, but is also a transmission belt for the urgently needed playful spaces of experience and surprising utopias. In addition to freedom, they in turn make courage tangible and can effectively convey a meaningful new beginning.

Dr Bastian Lange and Dr Matthias Rauch show how a new narrative and collaborative spaces can establish infrastructures of the future – open, diverse and connected. Their approach emphasises that creativity is more than just an industry. It is a key and building block for social transformation.

Bye-bye Car Park? How New Mobility is Making Our Cities More Liveable

What will the city of tomorrow look like when mobility is rethought? AI, digitalisation and autonomous driving are not only changing the automotive industry, but also everyday life, neighbourhoods and the use of urban spaces. What does this mean for streets, squares and neighbourhoods - and who decides on the new rules of interaction?

This panel brings design, urban planning and politics into dialogue and shows how creative methods translate technological developments into liveable solutions: Less friction, more safety, better participation and more attractive public spaces. The focus is on networked systems, new services and design ideas that use mobility as a lever for urban quality - and turn transformation into real places of the future.
