Bettina Steindl is the managing director and curator of CampusVäre in Dornbirn, Western Austria's largest centre for creative industries, innovation, art and culture. A business economist specialising in international trade, cultural management and gender studies, she has worked for the cultural capitals Linz 2009 and Ruhr 2010 and was co-founder of Urbane Künste Ruhr. She headed the designforum Wien, curated numerous exhibitions in Austria and abroad, teaches at universities and is involved in advisory boards and networks in the creative industries.

Urban Development: How Properties with Creative Uses Can Have an Urban Impact

How can property be transformed from a built container into a strategic lever for vibrant urban development? This panel shows how cooperation between property players and the creative industries creates places that combine social and economic impact. Based on best practices such as the CampusVäre creative area, the Kreativ Quartier Potsdam and the Hamburg creative spaces Seilerstraße and FABRIC, the speakers will discuss how creative uses open up open spaces, activate neighbourhoods and make cities fit for the future - and which business models are sustainable in the long term.
