What happens when AI innovation meets urban development? Our state cases show how differently – and how boldly – federal states are shaping the digital future. Mönchengladbach, Saxony and Baden-Württemberg present AI-supported projects that are rethinking the cultural and creative industries: From cross innovation ecosystems and cities as "sandboxes of the future" to real-life AI experiments in public spaces.

Take the opportunity to get to know the minds behind the projects, talk to sponsors and partners and, after a quick pitch round, start the deep dive. Which city will become the next innovation lab – and which festival proves that analog is more relevant than ever in the age of AI?

These are the four impulses:

Cities as Sandboxes of the Future: Learning from "Test in Heidelberg"

Many start-ups fail not because of the idea, but because of the reality: Assumptions don't fit, hurdles appear too late. This is precisely where cities become game changers – as sandboxes that offer protected spaces for experimentation, feedback and iteration.

Using the example of "Test in Heidelberg", we show how urban test fields enable practical testing for start-ups and companies – inspired by the "Test in Tallinn" program. With a focus on AI, mobility, energy efficiency and renewable energies, it becomes clear that testing for the good turns cities into living innovation laboratories that bring solutions to fruition more quickly – for the benefit of all.

In cooperation with the Department of Culture, Citizen Services and Creative Industries of the City of Heidelberg and the Cultural and Creative Industries Support Network.

At our participatory Stage K4, we combine impulses with networking. Come along at the start of the session and take a look at all four projects. After a short project presentation, you will have the opportunity to network intensively with the people behind the projects and find out more about their work.

For the first 30 minutes, we will present all projects on stage, then there will be 90 minutes for deep dives.

MAIA & CyberLÄND: How 3D Avatars Connect Community, Content & Business

MAIA is the 3D avatar of CyberLÄND, Baden-Württemberg's metaverse competence platform, and stands for bridging the gap between AI, the creative industries and the digital economy. As an interactive, AI-supported figure, she acts as a knowledge broker, storyteller and community host - on the web and in immersive spaces. The presentation will show in a practical way how MAIA combines generative AI with specific use cases: from automated content curation to the moderation of virtual events, including on the CyberLÄND website, in the community platform and as the leading figure of an Apple Vision Pro experience for MFG. Examples will be used to show how avatars enable reach, collaboration and new business models - and the experience can be tested live in the foyer.

Cross Innovation Made In Saxony

Cross innovation is firmly anchored in the DNA of creative industries promotion in Saxony. This is how KREATIVES SACHSEN came into being, which today acts as a central advice and networking center for the cultural and creative industries – from a co-creative process between creative professionals, politics and administration.

Together with the regional association WIR GESTALTEN DRESDEN, KREATIVES SACHSEN presents the content of its many years of work. They will explain how cross-innovative processes can be organized directly from the scene and established as a motor for regional value creation: A practical insight into Saxony's cross-innovation ecosystem.

In cooperation with the Cultural and Creative Industries Support Network and KREATIVES SACHSEN.

blank spaces: The conference festival from Mönchengladbach

blank spaces, the conference festival from Mönchengladbach on the Lower Rhine, brings together the cultural and creative industries with administration, politics and science. In this impulse, they show the potential of these connections for the city of tomorrow – for the common good, participation and democratic cooperation. They share their learnings, show approaches from practice and open the view to the next edition as a space for exchange, joint design and new alliances.
